My husband and I bought these shelves from Walmart about 3 years ago when we lived in our last apartment (we were cheap and still are) for about $25 a piece. We bought 2 and put them on either side of our tv stand.
I recently earned enough Amazon gift cards to purchase our new tv stand
(yeah, that’s Supernatural and our living room was a mess)
so I decided I needed new shelves to go with it. I wanted white shelves and couldn’t seem to find any that matched the stand without paying $200 per shelf. I’m too cheap for that, so I decided to just revamp these. Here is what I did:
I pulled the backs off the shelves and painted them the same color of white as the tv stand. I used painter’s tape to make the design I wanted.
Next, I painted them the same color as my coffee table that I posted about.
I pulled the tape off after the paint dried.
Then my husband (and his handsome 2 year old assistant) nailed the backs in place again.
I love how these turned out!
